Child domestic help commits 'suicide'
An 11-year-old domestic help allegedly committed suicide at Dhalkanagar in city's Gandaria area Wednesday night.
The dead was identified as Rumana Akhter, daughter of Shamsul Madbar of Shibchar in Madaripur district.
Romana's relatives alleged that she was killed and her employer was trying to prove the incident as a suicide case.
Rumana's cousin Mohammad Kabir told The Daily Star yesterday that Rumana had been working in the house of clothes trader Salim Chakladar on the second floor of a six-story building at Dhalkanagar.
When asked about the death of Rumana, Chakladar told them that she committed suicide by hanging herself with the grills of the balcony, which was not convincing to them, Kabir said.
