Agri-friendly programmes to boost food production taken: Hira
The government has taken various agriculture friendly-programmes to increase food production in the country, said Land Minister Rezaul Karim Hira yesterday.
As part of the programmes, the government has already introduced subsidy on various agricultural-inputs, including fertiliser, diesel and machinery, he added.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a tractor and power tiller distribution programme in Jamalpur.
Under the project, a total of 46 farmers got 44 power tillers and two tractors with 25 percent subsidy.
Mostafa Kamal, a farmer of Laxmirchar village, said he got a subsidy of Tk23500 to purchase the power tiller, which will help him cultivate land more intensively.
The land minister handed over the deeds of the tractors and power tillers to the farmers.
The distribution programme was held in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Alamgir in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Mrinal Kanti Dev, Deputy Director Department of Agriculture Extension Md Sirajul Islam, Syed Atiqur Rahman Sana, vice president of district Awami League, Chairman of the Upazila Parishad Bijan Kumar Chandra, and
Upazila Agriculture Officer Fazlul Karim Sani addressed the programme.
