Annee gets bail
A High Court bench yesterday granted ad-interim bail for three months to BNP lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annee in four cases.
The cases were filed with Shahbagh Police Station against him on charges of vandalising vehicles and obstructing police in discharging their duties during the June 27 hartal.
The division bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque issued four separate rules asking the government to explain within four weeks why Annee should not be granted regular bail in the cases.
The court came up with the orders and rules following four separate petitions by the legislator seeking bail in the cases.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, a counsel for Annee, told The Daily Star that there is no bar for his client to get released from prison following the HC order.
