Re-opening of Amar Desh press demanded
Journalists and employees of the daily Amar Desh staged a demonstration in front of the National Press Club in the city yesterday demanding re-opening of the press and immediate release of the acting editor Mahmudur Rahman.
They blamed the government for not re-opening the press of the newspaper despite the Supreme Court order.
They also threatened of laying siege the city streets if the acting Editor is not freed.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Ruhul Amin Gazi, Secretary General MA Aziz and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) General Secretary Mohammad Baker Hossain spoke with journalist Bachhir Jamal in the chair.
