Six killed in road accidents
Six people were killed and four others injured critically in separate road accidents in Khagrachhari, Gopalganj and Satkhira yesterday.
Three bike riders were killed and another was critically injured when the bike was run over by a Khagracchari-bound bus of Shanti Paribahan at Jaliyapara of Ramgarh, our correspondent from Khagrachhari reports.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Sumon, 20, Ula Marma, 30, and Paisai Marma, 25. Chaila Marma, 8, son of deceased Ula, was critically injured and sent to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex.
Locals seized the bus and blocked the road for half an hour.
A correspondent from Gopalganj adds: two people were killed and three others injured in separate accidents.
Md Azizul, 28, of sadar upazila was killed when a speeding truck from opposite direction crushed his motorcycle at Haridaspur in Sadar upazila killing him on the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to Gopalganj Sadar General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In another incident, Anil Mestree, 55, of kasiani upazila was crushed by a speeding motorcycle while he was crossing the road at Fukra bus stand of Kasiani upazila. He also died on the spot.
Police recovered the body. The three motorcyclists were taken to Kasiani Upazila Health Complex with critical injury.
Our Satkhira correspondent adds: A baby was killed on Tala-Patkelghata road in Tala upazila early yesterday.
A trolley knocked Tumpa, 2, daughter of Alamgir Sardar down while she was playing by the road side at around 07:00am leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
