Prison authorities asked not to transfer Milon to another jail

The High Court (HC) yesterday directed the prison authorities not to transfer ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, BNP leader and former state minister for education, to another jail without permission of the court. Milon, an accused in 14 criminal cases, is now in Comilla jail. The court, however, said Milon can be transferred to any other jail on medical grounds. An HC bench of Justice MA Wahhab Miah and Justice Kazi Reza-ul Huq passed the order following a writ petition filed by Nazmun Nahar Baby, wife of Milon, on behalf of her husband. She stated in the petition that the authorities have transferred Milon to one jail to another jail for at least 15 times after he was sent to prison on March 14 this year. Milon has become seriously ill due to his transfers from jails time and again, the petitioner said. Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal appeared for the petitioner.
