Double life term for possessing heroin, illegal arms
A court in Sylhet yesterday gave a man double life term in separate cases. The convict is Babla Rahat, 26, son of Muktar Miah of Khozarkhola area of the city.
Rab caught Babla from Khozarkhola area in the night of January 22 and recovered 120 grams of heroin and a country made revolver from his possession. A case was filed with Kotwali police station on the same night.
After investigation, police submitted two charge sheets--one under the Narcotics Control Act and the other under the Arms Control Act.
District and Sessions Judge Abdul Gafur handed down life term to Babla and fined him Tk 50,000 in default to suffer two years' more RI for possessing heroin.
The judge also gave him life term for possessing the illegal revolver, Public prosecutor EU Shahidul Islam said.
