Another outlaw held in Khulna

Police arrested a notorious outlaw Thursday night, suspecting his involvement in the killing of Sarder Abu Saeed Badal, chairman of Damodar union parishad (UP) under Phultala upazila of Khulna district. The arrestee was identified as Al Mamun alias Bomaru Mamun, 36, operations commander of Janajuddha faction of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP). Mamun, also chief of PBCP Khulna district, was arrested from Gobra bazar of Narail district. Two criminals shot Abu Saeed Badal dead on August 16 when he was going to the UP office on a motorcycle from his house at Damodar. Sarder Alauddin Mithu, younger brother of Badal and also chairman of Phultala upazila parishad, lodged an FIR (first information report) with Phultala Police Station on August 17 naming none as accused of the murder. Mamun was a professional bomber and shooter of Janajuddha faction of PBCP, said ASP Nasiruddin, also investigation officer of the murder case. Earlier, expelled Chattra League leader Mehedi Anam Ranju and outlaw Mamun Reza were arrested in this connection. Mamun was directly involved in the killing of Azad Gazi, prominent shrimp exporter of Phultala, and bomb attack on Mithu, the upazila parishad chairman, this year. Mamun is also wanted in several criminal cases including murders, the ASP added.
