Hanif urges BNP leaders to see their faces on mirror
Acting General Secretary of Awami League Mahbub- ul-Alam Hanif yesterday said Awami League does not know which unreachable path the BNP is passing through.
He said this while talking to journalists after placing wreaths at the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on the occasion of his 34th death anniversary.
The AL leader made the remark in response to a prior comment of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the same venue that "the country was now passing through a difficult road."
Hanif asked the BNP to have a glance of its rule from 2001 to 2006 and advised the party to see its face on the mirror to visualize the difficult path.
"Militancy was created in the country during the BNP-Jamaat alliance rule," he said adding thousands of Awami league leaders and workers were killed and forced to leave their homes during that period.
Grenade attack was conducted to a rally of Awami League on August 21, 2004 to kill the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.
Leaders of the AL, including former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria and a lawmaker, were also killed at that time, he added.
