40 injured by harpoon in clash

At least 40 people were injured by harpoon in a clash between two rival groups of Darigaon and Haripur villages in Raipura upazila of Narshingdi yesterday. Sources said the clash erupted at about 4:00am between a group of people of Darigaon village led by Jashim Uddin and Haripur village led by Subed Ali over establishing supremacy. They attacked each other with harpoons that left at least 40 people injured from both sides. Later, the injured were sent to different hospitals and clinics in Narsingdi and Brahmanbaria. Assistant Police Super Syed Abu Sayem said additional police personnel have been deployed to avert any untoward situation.
