Mother hacked to death by mentally ill son
A mentally ill son hacked to death his mother in Miar Bazar area at Banskhali upazila here on Friday night.
Police said Yasin, 20, hit his mother with a machete leaving her dead on the spot at around 10:30pm when she was sleeping along with her younger daughter. Yasin fled the spot after immediately the incident, police added.
Yasin had an altercation with his mother Mortuza Begum for Tk 20 on Friday evening.
Police arrested Yasin from a nearby hilly area yesterday
SM Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banskhali Police Station, said Yasin has long been mentally ill and was confined to home for seven months. The family member freed him a month ago after treatment, Ataur added.
Yasin's father Badiul Alam filed a murder case with Banskhali Police Station in this connection.
The body was sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
