6 killed in Jhenidah road crash
At least six people were killed and 35 injured in a road accident in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenidah yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as Attab Ali, 50, Sunil, 45, Tahazzel, 35, Jamela, 27, Hanu, 25, and Ripon, 12.
The accident occurred around 10:00am when a Kaliganj bound bus skidded off the road and toppled over a roadside ditch after hitting a rickshaw-van on Jibonnagar-Kaliganj road.
All the victims died on the spot, said Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moheshpur Police Station.
The number of dead may rise as the condition of five of the injured was critical, the OC added.
Of the injured, eight were rushed to the upazila health complexes of Moheshpur and Jibonnagar.

Our correspondent from Dinajpur reports: At last one person was killed and seven more wounded in a road accident here in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat district on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Moksed Ali, son of Alek Ali of Dupchachiya village under Bogra district. Police said a Joypurhat bound shallow engine-run three wheeler carrying cattle flipped when one of its rear tyres suddenly burst at Jamalganj village of the district, leaving at least eight people wounded on the spot. The victims were rushed to Joypurhat Modern Hospital where Moksed succumbed to his injuries last night. Other victims were rushed to Rajshahi and Bogra Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated. THAKURGAON
Our correspondent from Thakurgaon adds: A girl was killed in a road accident at Awliapur village under sadar upazila on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Moina Rani, 16, daughter of Jagadish Chandra Barman of Shaslapeala village under sadar upazila of the district. Police said the accident took place at around 5:00pm when a Thakurgaon-bound car hit a motorcycle on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh road leaving the three motorcycle riders including Moina seriously injured. Locals rushed them to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital where Moina succumbed to her injuries at around 11:30pm.
