BCB's World Cup preparation
Not Australia, not South Africa, not India, and not England cancelled their test matches ahead of the Cricket World Cup. But Bangladesh did. They cancelled the test matches against New Zealand. Instead they are playing two additional ODIs. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) thinks it will help in the world cup preparation. It seems that Bangladesh has better chance than Australia, SA or India. Ridiculous!
What is the rationale of this decision of BCB I don't know. They may think Bangladesh will repeat the performance of the last world cup. But I'm afraid they won't. They lost matches against minnows like Holland and Scotland this year. And test matches enhance the temperament of the players. So, to neglect the test matches for the preparation of the world cup is quite unacceptable.
Besides, Bangladesh gets less chance to play test matches. Most of the teams are reluctant to play test against us. So, it's suicidal to cancel test for ODI. And so far it's the most unintelligent decision BCB ever made.
N.B. Two practice matches and one ODI had to be cancelled because of bad weather. So much for BCB's World Cup preparation!
