9 Jamaat men sued in Rangpur

The president and secretary of Badarganj upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and seven other party men have been sued following attack on a television (TV) dramatist and his brother at their house Saturday night, family sources said. TV dramatist Nannu Chowdhury and his brother Mozammel Chowdhury were injured as Jamaat men led by their president and secretary Rustom Ali and Abdul Halim Khan manhandled them severely, they said. When contacted, Nannu said the jamaat men attacked and ransacked his house after a meeting at the Badarganj house of party secretary general ATM Azharul Islam at about 8:00 pm. Later, a case was filed with Badarganj police station accusing nine Jamaat leaders and activists. Baderganj police station officer-in-charge (OC) Proddut Kumar Das said he registered a case after an investigation.
