Mother kills minor daughter, takes life
A mother poisoned her six month old daughter to death and took her life last night allegedly being unable to bear the torture by her husband for dowry.
The incident took place at Sreeula village in Assassuni upazila in the district.
Police arrested the victim's father-in-law Nazrul Islam and mother- in-law Zobeda Khatun of Sreeula village.
The deceased are, 20 wife of Shaha Buddin and her six month old daughter of village Sreeula.
Quoting local people, police said, Shahanar Begum Hira was married to Shaha Buddin of Sreeula village two years ago. Her husband sued to torture her often for dowry.
On Sunday the husband beat her again. At night, dejected Shahanar poisoned her daughter Sumaiya Parvin and then took the poison.
Local people rushed the mother and her daughter to the local health complex where they died.
The husband fled away after the incident. A case was filed with Assassuni thana.
On contact, officer-in-charge (OC) of Assassuni police station Humayun Kabir confirmed the incident.
