Amend CHT land law: Rupayan
Indigenous leader Rupayan Dewan yesterday demanded amendment to the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act, 2001 to resolve problems in the CHT region.
He also called on the government to cease a three-day hearing to resolve land disputes in the CHT region until necessary amendments are brought in the act, says a press release.
Dewan, also co-chairman of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity, claimed that the act is also not consistent with the CHT peace accord.
He demanded the removal of CHT Land Commission Chairman Khademul Islam Chowdhury claiming that the chairman has taken decisions that go against the peace accord.
