Doctor, two domestic helps 'commit' suicide
One doctor and two female domestic helps allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the city yesterday.
The doctor was identified as Kamrul Islam, 50, who used to work at Monorog Clinic in the city' Mirpur 11. Two domestic help are Doly Begum, 50, of Monipuripara and Shefali, 18, of Gulshan in the city.
In an incident, doctor Kamrul allegedly committed suicide at the city's Pallabi by injuring himself in his throat with a blade.
SI of Pallabi Police Station Ejajul Islam said a suicidal note was found in the room of the doctor, which says, none is responsible for his death. His relatives told the police that he was drug addict.
In another incident, around 10:00am police recovered the body of Doly Begum hanging from the shower of a bathroom.
Around 9:00pm more than a hundred domestic helps encircled the house where Doly Begum used to work as a domestic help demanding proper investigation into the incident and justice.
Police brought the situation under control around 11:00pm.
Doly Begum, wife of late Dor Mia of Bogra Sadar was working at a house in the first floor of Park River Apartment at Monipuripara in Tejgaon.
Tejgaon police said the residents of the house told them that Doly went to sleep around 10:30pm Saturday after having dinner and in the morning, they found her hanging.
Police said two earrings and a gold chain were lost from the house two days ago and the residents had interrogated Doly Begum about the earrings and chain.
Yet in another incident, Gulshan police recovered the body of Shefali hanging from the ceiling of a room locked from inside yesterday afternoon. Shefali daughter of Tota Mia hailing from Nokla upazilla in Sherpur was working as a domestic help at House No 5S, Road No 104, Gulshan.
