10 shops fined for product sales without MRP

Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection yesterday fined 10 shops Tk 1.62 lakh in the city, as they sell products without the maximum retail price written on the packets. The shops are located at Barabag Bazar in Mirpur-2 and Shah Ali Market in Mirpur-1. A monitoring team, led by Deputy Secretary Md Abu Taleb of the directorate, fined the shops in the two markets Tk 1,42,000, says a press release. Another general store was fined Tk 20,000 for selling underweight products. Representatives from Bangladesh Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), Fisheries department, Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and two teams of Rapid Action Battalion and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) were also present during the drive.
