RTI to empower people
Says chief info commissioner
Chief Information Commissioner Muhammad Zamir yesterday said Right to Information (RTI) would ensure people's empowerment through establishing good governance in the country.
RTI is one of the main elements of good governance, he told a training workshop on “Application of greenstone digital library software for building digital library” at East West University (EWU) in the city.
Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, president of board of EWU trustees, also addressed the function with EWU Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammed Sharif in the chair, says a press release.
Greenstone is a software for building and distributing digital library collections. It provides a new way of organising information and publishing it on the Internet or on CD-ROM.
The software aims to empower users, particularly in universities, libraries, and other public service institutions to build their own digital libraries.
