Bus rams police van
Nine cops injured
A rash driven bus rammed into a police pickup van injuring at least nine police near National Press Club in the city yesterday morning.
They are Nayek Sharafat and seven constables--Alim, Jotish, Alamgir, Humayan, Nur Mohammad, Sajedur and Khaleq-- were admitted to Rajarbagh Police Line Hospital while constable Abdur Rahman to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the bus of My Line Paribahan but its driver and his helper managed to flee.
Witnesses said the bus hit the police van when it was standing on the roadside near the club around 9:00am.
The policemen were sitting in the pickup van while on duty in front of the Cirdap office, said Rezaul Karim, OC Shahbagh Police Station.
