Five CNG drivers freed hours after arrest
Police yesterday arrested here five CNG auto-rickshaw drivers who were protesting the increase in daily rental they are to pay to the vehicle owners.
The five are members to Chittagong Metropolitan CNG Auto-Tempo-Rickshaw Worker Welfare Union.
Officer-in-charge Abul Kalam Azad of Kotwali Police Station they made the arrests as the union organised a protest rally in front of DC hill without permission from CMP.
However, the arrestees were released after police sent them to a Chittagong court.
The protest was staged as the government recent fixed Tk 600 daily as daily rental in the place of Tk 450.
