Dhaka Int'l Trade Fair begins today
PM to inaugurate the event
The 16th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF-2011) begins today at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in the city.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the chief guest is expected to inaugurate the month-long fair organised by the commerce ministry and Export Promotion Bureau.
“The fair mainly aims to showcase our exportable products to the visitors from home and abroad so the foreign participants glimpse our quality products,” said Commerce Minister Faruk Khan at a press conference yesterday.
Live telecasting of the fair activities in all divisional headquarters and export processing zones are among features of the DITF-2011.
Thirteen countries are participating in the fair.
For the first time, DITF will display Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's economic strategy and long-term financial plan.
DITF-2011 is also available on the web site. A total of 531 national and international companies are participating in the fair.
EPB raked in a profit of Tk 7.19 crore from the trade fair last year. The fair will open from 10:00am to 10:00pm for all with an entry fee of Tk 15.
