It is about time that questions should be raised seriously concerning the competency of the regulatory body of our capital market. Recent massive slide in the prices of shares must not be overlooked with mere excuse that these things often happen in the capital market, but this unprecedented slide must be thoroughly investigated in the interest of the public, so that the capital market can be corrected in advance by the regulatory authorities and thus save millions of medium and small investors. This incident has superseded the 1996 incident which also caused financial havoc to millions of small and medium investors. We would request the authorities concerned to be more cautious and sensible when making any change in the regulations towards the betterment of the market or to the interest of the investors. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) must act in a rational way and must not take hasty or incorrect decisions which may lead the market to disarray.
