Our MPs
Our parliament sessions are short and the debates far shorter. Our elected representatives are not passionate men and women, driven to politics by a determination to leave their mark on the world, or at least on those who oppose them.
The Election Commission has, on the Supreme Court's recommendation, decided that all future candidates will have to give an account of themselves educational background, financial status, assets owned and criminal record etc. What a lot of paper work they will create for themselves. But, on the positive side, there may be a bestseller in there somewhere; or at least the makings of a self-help guide to a career in politics.
