6 killed, 38 injured in road crashes

Six people were killed and 38 others injured in separate road accidents in Benapole, Chittagong, Faridpur, Gaibandha and Thakurgaon on Tuesday and yesterday. Our correspondent from Benapole reports: Three people including a SSC examinee were killed and 18 others injured in separate road accidents on Jessore-Magura road yesterday. The first accident occurred near Khazura police camp when a onion-laden truck over turned on the road after a goods-laden truck hit it from behind, leaving two dead on the spot and eight others injured. The deceased were identified as Mazed, and Ishaq, both are onion traders Meanwhile, another accident took place on Jessore-Magura road in Jogmohonpur area when two Nasimon (three-wheeler) collided head-on, leaving one dead and ten others SSC examinee injured. Our correspondent from Chittagong adds: Around 20 people were injured when a picnic bus fell down in a canal on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway at Kharana Bridge of Patiya upazila yesterday. Our correspondent from Thakurgaon says: An elderly woman, Banshuri Barman, 70, wife of Upendranath Barman, was killed in a road accident when a pick-up van hit the woman while she was crossing the road on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway at Khochabari Bazar on Tuesday. After the accident agitating locals barricaded the road. Our correspondent from Gaibandha adds: A nine-year-old girl, Joba Rani, was killed under the wheel of three-wheeler while she was crossing road on Gaibandha-Balashi road yesterday. Our correspondent from Faridpur says: Two unidentified persons were killed and two others injured in a accident when a bus hit a three-wheeler at Pukuria Bazar of Bhanga yesterday.
