Most of the people of our country are soft and kind hearted. They are very mild and generous. They have been co-operating with one another from time immemorial. People still rush to others' places in times of their danger. This is the remarkable characteristic of our tradition. Once again the people of our country have shown their fellow-feeling and generosity by responding to the call of the government in helping the cyclone affected people. People, irrespective of being rich and poor, children and adults, have come forward to make contributions. In our institution, our headmistress called upon the students through a notice to contribute as per their ability. They have also been told that students having no ability do not need to participate in the process. While the tragic scenes of the cyclone affected people were being described to the students, their eyes filled with tears. So they responded wholeheartedly. Eventually, a handsome figure was sent to the relief fund of the government from our school. The generosity of an eight-year old girl reading in class three (iii) has surprised us. That is, after her exam of that day she was looking for the class teacher carrying a five hundred taka note in her hand. At last she was glad when she could make the contribution. She has certainly been encouraged by her parents at home. This girl may be little but her heart is great. Her spontaneous response reminds us of a wise saying, "Charity begins at home" Actually children learn charity observing their parents helping others. On the other hand, they learn cruelty seeing their parents being unkind to others. So, my proposal in this regard is that all the educational institutions, from the university down to the primary level, come forward with the message of love and fellow-feeling. Every student's little contribution will ultimately turn into a big amount which will play a significant role in rehabilitating the people in distress.
