Housewife held over death of domestic help
A housewife, who allegedly tortured to death her 10-year-old domestic help at her Uttara residence in the city on Wednesday, was arrested yesterday.
Police said they arrested Hosnewara Begum, 46, wife of Abdur Rashid, a stock market investor, from a house at Section 14 of Uttara where she was hiding.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdus Selim of Uttara Police Station, also investigation officer of the case, said during preliminary interrogation Hosnewara admitted that she and her husband often beat the girl, Aklima, for various offence, but did not think the girl would die.
SI Selim said they were trying to arrest Rashid.
