ASF places 7 suggestions to check acid violence
Acid Survivors Foundation at a conference on Saturday placed seven recommendations to eliminate acid violence from the country by 2015.
The foundation organised the discussion titled “National Conference of Acid Survivors with Government Officials” at city's BIAM auditorium.
Speakers at the conference said meetings of National Acid Control Council and district acid control committee should be held regularly.
Recommendations include implementation of laws to prevent acid violence and specific directions of the district acid control committee on allocation of money for acid victims.
Database of the district wise acid survivors should be made available to district acid control committee, district council, district social welfare and district women affairs officers, the speakers said.
They also said listing acid users at district level, massive campaigns on reducing harm after acid attack and increased cooperation among private and public health sectors are also important.
Moreover, treatment, rehabilitation and legal support system must also be strengthened, they added.
District civil surgeons, executive chief of district parishad, district women affairs officers, assistant superintendent of police, deputy director of social service, public prosecutors and chairmen of Jatiya Mahila Sangstha were also present.
