Admin decision questioned by guardians, teachers
The district administration's decision to moderate questions for admission test in Rangpur Zila School and Rangpur Government Girls High School is being questioned by many guardians of admission seekers and teachers as well.
The guardians apprehend that fairness and transparency might be hampered if the administration takes the responsibility to moderate questions for admission test in the two schools.
Sources said, Deputy Commi-ssioner Khondoker Atiar Rahman formed a two-member committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and Development) Ameer Hosen to moderate questions prepared by the schools.
Authorities of the two schools have written to the DG of Secondary Education Department seeking directive in this situation.
Acting headmaster of Rangpur Zila School Rafiqul Islam said, the district administration was authorised by education ministry to moderate admission test questions.
He said, “As per directive of the ministry the district administration is supposed to monitor the admission process in the two schools.”
Replying to another question he said, “I do not know if monitoring means preparing questions”.
Abed Ali, guardian of an admission seeking student, claimed that there was no record of irregularities in admission test in the two schools in the past.
He questioned the district administration's decision to moderate questions for admission test this year.
Asked, DC Khondoker Atiar Rahman said the administration has taken the decision to stop 'coaching business' by a section of teachers.
He however denied the allegation that the administration made any recommendation for admission to Zila School last year.
Additional Deputy Commi-ssioner Ameer Hosen said the decision was taken as per directive of education ministry.
A number of teachers of the two schools seeking anonymity told this correspondent that the district administration gave a list of students for admission last year.
The headmasters did not comply with the request of the district administration. They (the district administration) might be annoyed with authorities of the two schools, the teachers claimed.
Tests for admission to class three will be held on January 16 and for six and nine on January 17 in the two schools.
