Road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed and 10 others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Noakhali, Tangail and Panchagarh yesterday.
Our correspondent from Chittagong reports: A man was killed in a road accident at Aliya Masjid of Bandar in the port city yesterday.
The deceased Mohammad Ali, 27, a resident of village Char Bandiya at Bhurangamari in Kurigram, was a staff of Young One Group.
Police said the accident took place when a human hauler hit his cycle while he was returning home riding his cycle around 12.20am.
Locals sent him to Chittagong Medial College Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead, added police.
Our correspondent form Noakhali adds: Two day labourers were killed as a sand-laden truck crushed them while they were going to Shanir hat at about 6:00am on Shantirhat-Janatabazar road in Charmatua union of Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Md Azad, 32, and Shafi Ullah, 35 of Andarchar village under Charmatua union.
Police seized the truck while its driver and helper managed to flee.
Our correspondent from Tangail says: Two people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Sadar upazila yesterday.
Police said the accident took place on Bangabandhu Bridge approach road at Rasulpur when the Dhaka-bound truck collided head-on with the bus, leaving the truck driver Mizanur Rahman, 30, dead on the spot and injured 11 others. Of the injured, one Afzal Hossain, 40, was died in the Tangail General Hospital.
Our correspondent from Thakurgaon adds: A three-year-old boy was killed in a road accident on Panchagarh-Chakla road at Sardarpara village under Sadar upazila in Panchagarh yesterday.
The victim was identified as Naim, son of Latiful Islam of the same village.
Police said the accident occurred when a Chakla-bound motorbike hit the minor boy while he was crossing the road leaving him seriously injured. Locals brought him to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
