2 accused give confessional statement, 3 remanded

Two of the five persons arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Awami League leader Saiful Islam Sabu gave statement before court yesterday under Section 164, confessing their involvement in the killing. Police however declined to give details of their statement for the sake of investigation. Police said Bakul and Helal have 'some important information' about the murder. “Two of the criminals confessed to their involvement in Sabu murder. They disclosed the motive behind the murder and the persons involved" said SI Bazlur Rashid. The rest three alleged criminals were placed on three day's remand by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Saidur Rahman for interrogation. They are Nazrul Islam, Makhlesur Rahman and Asad. Police sought five days' remand for them. Acting on the statement of the arrested two, police arrested one more accused yesterday afternoon, police said. Md. Sahidul Islam, son of Nasim Uddin of Singa village was arrested from house. A gang of miscreants killed AL leader Saiful Islam Sabu on September 18 last year.
