New Somo Adhiker body formed in Khagrachhari
A 101-member committee of Khagrachhari district Somo Adhiker Andolon (SAA) was formed at their Kalabagan office in hill town district Khagrachhari yesterday.
Former district Awami Leauge (AL) president Dousta Muhammad Chowdhury, district Jatiya Party President Shahaz Uddin, former Sadar upazila BNP president Nuruzzaman have been made president, general secretary and organising secretary of the newly formed district SAA committee, SAA sources said.
Cancellation of the CHT peace accord was one of the pledges that BNP made in Khagrachhari before 2001 election, but the BNP-Jamaat government did not do it during their five-year rule, speakers said on the occasion.
They also blamed the AL for making them 'second class citizens' in CHT.
Meanwhile, a few upazila level SAA leaders said they were ignored while forming the new committee.
