At least 25, including two policemen, were injured in a clash between two rivals of the ruling Awami League in Galachipa town yesterday evening. Clashes ensued as a procession led by Galachipa upazila unit AL president Harun-or-Rashid was attacked by a local MP group. Harun-or-Rashid said his unit brought out a procession protesting a speech given against the prime minister and others ministers by Golam Moula Roni, AL backed lawmaker for Patuakhali-3 (Galachipa and Dashmina), on a TV channel talk show. The procession, while crossing the post office road, was attacked by local MP backed cadres led by Saddam, Azom, Litu, Dadon, Sabu and Elias, he said. The cadres threw brickbats and used sticks on the procession and many were injured, he added. Later on, agitated party activists vandalised the office of the AL section led by MP Roni.
