BNP blames govt for Yunus' removal
Opposition Chief Whip Jaynal Abedin Farroque said, “We (BNP activists) do not have any respect for those who are reluctant to pay tribute to Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus".
He was speaking at a rally organised by Shikkhak Karmachari Oikya Jote in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city yesterday, protesting delay in salary payment of non-government teachers.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Abdus Salam said failing his duties as finance minister, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is now busy filing cases against Prof Yunus.
Speakers at the rally urged the government to step down as they failed to meet the demands of people as per their election manifesto.
Government is cheating people including teachers and failed to meet the demands of the working classes as prices of daily necessities are beyond purchasing capacity, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The failures reached such a situation that they should step down, he added.
Former education minister Osman Faruk said the ruling party failed in every-sphere and so Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will initiate movement to oust the government.
Dhaka University arts faculty dean Prof Sadrul Amin, BNP chairperson's Adviser Ahmed Azam Khan and teachers MA Sobur and Ferdous Ahmed were also present.
