Woman commits suicide in city
A middle-aged woman jumped to death from a nine-storey building at Mazar Road in the city's Dakshin Khan yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Wazifa Ali, 50, wife of Mohammad Ali, a resident of a flat on the fourth floor of the nine-storey building in Bismillah Housing area.
Hasan Imtiaz Sumon, a neighbour of the woman said Wazifa jumped from the rooftop of the building and fell on the parking place around 8:00am.
He added she was suffering from kidney diseases and she had to undergo dialysis twice a week over the last three years which seemed unbearable to her and that led to the incident.
Mohammad Ali told reporters at DMCH that she felt unbearable pain most of the time and passed night without sleeping and Friday night she could not sleep.
