Dishonouring Yunus means demeaning Bangladesh: JP leader
The nation has demeaned itself in the global community by dishonouring Dr Muhammad Yunus, said former minister and Jatiya Party (JP) leader Kazi Firoz Rashid yesterday.
The JP presidium member also said Bangladesh-US relation has deteriorated although the foreign minister and some senior officials denied it.
"As a Bangalee Dr Yunus has brought Bangladesh honour, and we should not have treated him such a way," he said.
Firoz Rashid made the comment while presiding over a discussion at JP headquarters at Topkhana road in the city yesterday.
Meanwhile Bangladesh Mahila Parishad in a statement demanded the government act with Prof Yunus the way he deserves, considering his international fame and familiarity.
The parishad also urged the government to keep attention so that Bangladesh does not lose its respect in the world.
