Charges against 735 jawans framed
A special court yesterday framed charges against 735 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), previously known as BDR, for their involvement in the mutiny in 2009.
Of the accused, four confessed to their involvement in the mutiny at the BGB headquarters at Pilkhana.
Dhaka Sector Commander Col Habibul Karim read out the allegations against the jawans.
The court carried out its proceeding for the fifth day at the Darbar Hall in Pilkhana. The court was adjourned till 9:00am today.
The allegations against the accused include leaving Darbar Hall defying the orders of the then director general, failing to control subordinates, refraining from providing information about the mutiny to the higher authority, not taking any actions to prevent mutiny, taking firearms and ammunition from the armoury and participating actively in the mutiny.
