Vow to end violence against women
Terming acid throwing is the most heinous crime against women in the country, speakers at a rally urged the people from all walks of life to come forward stop the crime.
“Acid throwing victim bears scar throughout their life. The government should take necessary steps to rehabilitate the acid survivors,” said Drama personality Ramendu Majumdar.
Saying that most of the acid victims are under 18 years old, he demanded proper implementation of the law relating to acid throwing as the crime could be stopped forever.
Acid Survivors Foundation organised the rally in the city on the eve of the International Women's Day.
Speakers and participants also vowed to stop all kind of violence against women. They urged the people from all walks of life to raise voice against the crime.
Meanwhile, different organisations yesterday held different programmes include workshop and seminar on the eve of International Women's Day.
