Road crashes kill 3, hurt 50
Three people were killed and 50 others injured in separate road accidents in Kishoreganj and Natore on Monday.
Our correspondent from Kishoreganj reports: Two were killed including an 8-month-old child and at least 50 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Kishoreganj sadar upazila on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Pinky, 8 months, daughter of Bimal Shaha of Kalmakanda village of Netrakona and Shipan Sarker, 25, son of Sadhan Sarker, of Batrish of Kishoreganj.
Police said the accident took place on Kishoreganj-Mymensingh highway in Sadullarchar area in Kishoreganj sadar around 9:30pm when a Kishoreganj-bound bus skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch, leaving Pinky dead on the spot and 50 others injured.
In another accident occurred at Teripatri in Kishoreganj town at about 9:00pm when a speedy truck crushed Shipon under its wheel while he was crossing road. He was rushed to Dhaka in critical condition but he was succumbed to his injuries on the way around 10:00pm.
Our correspondent form Natore adds: An elderly woman was killed on the spot when a Natore-bound bus run over her on Dhaka-Natore highway while she was crossing the road at Razzak intersection under Baraigram upazila on Monday.
The victim was identified as Bimola Bewya, 65, wife of Gedu Mandol, of Zonail village under the upazila.
