Trader beaten to death in city
A rickshaw trader was beaten to death by his relatives over a land dispute at Trimohoni Beparibari at the city's Khilgaon yesterday.
The deceased is identified as Mohammad Salahuddin, 50.
Masud, brother-in-law of Salahuddin told reporter that Salahuddin's elder brother, three sisters and four nephews and he were holding arbitration at the elder brother's house to settle a land dispute between Salahuddin and Monwara.
He added during the arbitration a tussle occurred at about 9:00am and at one stage Salahuddin's elder brother caught him while others severely beat him up and leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 12:00pm.
