Road accidents kill 7, injure 45 in 3 districts
Seven people were killed and 45 others injured in road accidents in Sathkhira, Tangail and Chittagong on Tuesday and yesterday.
Our Correspondent from Satkhira reports: Five people were killed and 45 others injured, six of them seriously, when a bus overturned after hitting a roadside tree at Brojabaksha village in Kolaroa upazila on Tuesday night.
Deb Prashad Roy, 30, of Laxminathpur village, Jasimuddin, 27, of Kushlia village, Belal Hossain, 35, of Bazargram of upazila, and Meherunnesa Sathi, 30, daughter of Kazi Badar Uddin of Kulia village under Debhata upazila died instantly.
Mahananda Mondal, 30, son of Bidhu Monda of Parulgachha in Kaliganj upazila, died at Sadar Hospital at 7:30am yesterday.
SP Habibur Rahman Khan said the accident happened at about 10:30pm when the driver of the bus lost control over the steering after a tyre burst.
The injured were admitted to hospitals.
Our Tangail Correspondent adds: A constable of Detective Branch (DB) of police was crushed under the wheels of a bus at Mirzapur yesterday.
The victim is Lutfar Rahman, 38, of Ichhail village under the upazila. Police seized the truck.
Our Correspondent from Ctg says: Jasim Uddin, 30, son of Shah Alam, of the city's Karnaphuly Thana area, was killed as a lorry hit him at Salt Gola Crossing intersection in the city yesterday morning.
