Dhaka-Delhi border co-ordination meet begin
Border guards of India and Bangladesh yesterday began five-day discussions on issues related to joint verification of unfenced gaps, maintenance of status quo in areas of adverse possession of land and implementation of joint border management plan.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Chief Major General Rafiqul Islam, heading a 20-member team, discussed the issues with Indian Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Raman Srivastava, who heads a 23-member delegation, at the BSF headquarters here.
The five-day meeting will discuss issues of trans-border crimes and killing of Bangladeshi civilians in firing by BSF along the border.
A joint memorandum will be signed by both the forces on March 12 and a joint media interaction by Maj Gen Islam and Srivastava is likely on March 12.
