'Be united against war criminals, fatwabaz'

Staff Correspondent
Children of freedom fighters yesterday called upon all to build public consensus against the war criminals, fatwabaz ('enforcers' of religious edicts), and those who create anarchy in the name of hartal. The appeal came after the executive committee meeting of Amara Muktijudhar Santan (AMS), an organisation formed by freedom fighters' children, at its office in the city. AMS leaders said a vested quarter has been conspiring to create anarchy in the country after making different issues by themselves, says a press release. The freedom fighters' children vowed to build a nationwide public consensus against the conspiracies of that quarter. Participants also labeled Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami a party doing politics using Islam as a weapon and said legal action should be taken against such organisations. AMS president Humayun Kabir, presidium members Emdadul Haque, Nuruzzaman Bhuttu, and Mostaq Ahmed Khan, and general secretary Ashraful Islam Nayan, among others, spoke.
