4 BCL men hurt in factional clash at CU

Four Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists were injured in a factional clash at Chittagong University (CU) on Thursday night. Witnesses said a group of BCL men swooped on the four activists of their rival group in front of S Alam Cottage, adjacent to the university main gate, at about 10:00pm. Alauddin, in-charge of university police outpost, said the attack ensued following Wednesday's clash between two factions of BCL on the campus. The injured are Mujibur Rahman of Physics department, Nazmul Hasan Miraj, Shariful Islam and Uddipan Chakma of Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries department. Mujibur was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. Meanwhile, a team of Hathazari police yesterday detained three BCL activists from in front of Shaheed Abdur Rab and Alaol Halls for their alleged involvement in Thursday's clash. They are Rahat Hossain Himel of Political Science department, Kutub Uddin Bhuiyan of Botany department and Nehal Ahmed of Chemistry department.
