One hurt in sewerage pipe blast
A barber's shop employee suffered injuries in an explosion of a sewerage pipe at the city's Uttara yesterday.
Jewel, 20, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Anis, owner of the shop “Anie Hair Fashion,” said the shop floor has three metal lids, connected to a sewerage pipe directly below.
Trapped gas inside the pipe exploded with a big bang and one lid hit Jewel while he was cleaning the shop around 8:00am.
The lid also hit and broke the shop's glass window, said Anis, adding that the same pipe exploded six months back.
Uttara police said a car inside a garage adjacent to the shop was also damaged.
