Four brick fields fined Tk 12 lakh
Four brick kilns were yesterday fined Tk 12 lakh for polluting croplands in Jhikorgacha and Monirampur upazilas in Jessore.
A team of the Department of Environment (DoE), led by its director (enforcement) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, gave the penalty to Messer's Bhai Bhai Bricks, Messer's Moushumi Bricks, Messer's Four Star Bricks and New Shapla Bricks, says a press release.
Police, Rapid Action Battalion and Fire Brigade helped the team that also sealed the brick kilns and seized 30 tonnes of pile woods, pump machines, mud-laden vehicles, and bulldozed smokestacks and other structures. None of the brick kilns had BSTI license and approval from DoE.
