Zillur for upholding fame of army
President Zillur Rahman has called for upholding the fame of Bangladesh Army acquired at home and abroad through efficient discharge of their professional duties.
The president made the call when Chief of Army Staff General Abdul Mubeen called on him at Bangabhaban yesterday.
“Members of Bangladesh armed forces are discharging their duties with sincerity and efficiency at the UN peacekeeping missions,” the president said.
He expressed satisfaction over the activities of Bangladesh armed forces, which are involved in maintaining security on the occasion of the ICC World Cup Cricket in the country alongside urban development.
During the meeting, Gen Mubeen informed the president that some 2500 members of the armed forces are presently working in UN peacekeeping mission in Ivory Coast while Bangladesh army contingent in Kuwait is also doing well.
He apprised Zillur that some 95 percent of development works including rebuilding the damaged embankments and roads in the Aila-hit coastal areas of the southwestern region have already been completed under the supervision of Bangladesh Army while the rest five percent will be completed shortly.
Gen Mubeen also informed that he has recently visited Sri Lanka and met with the Sri Lankan president while he will visit neighboring Myanmar in near future.
