Road crashes kill 7, injure 16

Seven people were killed and 16 others injured in separate road accidents in Jessore, Kishoreganj, Natore and Gaibandha districts yesterday. Our correspondent from Benapole reports : Four people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents at Churamonkathi bazar and Basundia level crossing in Jessore yesterday. Police said the first one took place around 12:00pm on Jessore-Jhinaidah road at Churamonkathi bazar when a Nasimon lost its control and hit two motorcyclists after a truck from opposite direction hit the Nasimon, leaving the two motorcyclists dead. The deceased are Milon, 18, son of Siraj Mia and Shahin, 19, son of Abdur Rahim from Satmile. Another accident took place on Jessore-Khulna road at Basundia level crossing when a driver of a pick-up van lost his control over steering and fell into a roadside ditch, leaving two dead and injured 10 others. The deceased are Abdul Aziz, 60, and Sumon, 50. Both of them hailed from Chachra of Jessore. The injured were rushed to Jessore Sadar Hospital. Our correspondent from Kishoreganj adds: One person was killed and two others were injured when a truck and a tomtom (three wheeler) collided head-on at Hossainpur upazila yesterday. The deceased is Khurum Mia, 30, the Tomtom driver, son of Muslim Uddin of Halima village in Hossainpur. Our correspondent from Natore says: A truck passenger was killed and four others were injured when a truck lost its control and hit a tree on Natore-Bogra highway at Purbo Haguria yesterday. The deceased is Abul Kashem, 30, son of Abdur Rahman of Atrai upazila in Naogaon. Our correspondent from Gaibandha reports: A pedestrian, Nuruzzamnan Prodhan, 70, was killed and another injured when a speedy motorcycle hit him on Gaibandha-Sunderganj road at Chowdhury Bazar yesterday. The injured is Najimuddin, the motorcycle rider.
