Man dies in police custody
A man arrested on suspicion of being a mugger allegedly died of torture in the city's Dhanmondi police custody yesterday.
Refuting the allegation, police said Md Faisal alias Roni, 40, succumbed to his injuries from a mob beating during the arrest from Dhanmondi playground area on Tuesday. Roni was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:00pm where doctors declared him dead. The hospital morgue sources said the body bore several marks of injury.
