Youth lynched in city
Angry mob beat to death an alleged burglar and seriously injured his associate on allegation of stealing a mobile phone from a house at Dhalpur in the city early yesterday.
The deceased Siddikur Rahman alias Tiger Siddiq, 28, of Dhalpur of Sutikhalpar area in the city, was a listed, involved in mugging and theft, said AKM Abul Kasem, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station.
His associate Mohammad Rana, 28, of Nurpur of the area was also accused in several burglaries and snatching cases, he said, adding that after the beating, Siddiq went to his house and died.
Police sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy while Rana's family members admitted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he added.
